Christmas Wreath Making Workshop at Cofton Holidays – Wed 29th Nov & Wed 6th Dec 9.45am – in this workshop you’ll learn how to use natural greenery and trimmings to go away with your own festive wreath to hang on your door – all under the guidance of a professional florist. A warming winter beverage and a festive treat are included.
Organic wreath making workshop at Exeter Phoenix – Monday 7th December – 10.30am-4pm make aromatic organic wreaths using 100% natural materials to create beautiful and original wreaths in the workshop. Lunch included.
Christmas Wreath Making at Powderham Castle, Wednesday 13th December 2:00 – 4:30pm & 6:30 – 9:00pm and Thursday 14th December 10:00am – 12:30pm & 2:00 – 4:30pm, includes materials, mince pies & coffee.
Christmas Crafty Day for Under 5s with The Creation Station at Kenniford Farm, Fri 1st Dec, 10am-2pm – create some beautiful presents, make some decorations or just get creative! Lucy & The Lost Ones at Exeter Phoenix, Wednesday 6th – Thursday 28th December Every night, Lucy comes out to look at the stars and listen to the universe. And not very much happens… until one starry night, she hears something. Something from outer space…” This promises to be another funny, imaginative and magical performance from Quirk Theatre.
Christmas Past and Present by Boo to a Goose Theatre – joyful and nostalgic family show, including songs around the Christmas Tree and a present from Father Christmas. A Christmas Carol – A Folk Opera at the Barnfield Theatre, Tuesday 12th December. Using new lyrics and traditional English folk tunes, GreenMatthews (with special guest Jude Rees of Pilgrims’s Way) use a bewitching blend of voices and instruments to create a musical retelling of this seasonal favourite.
Scripts for Supper presents: The Lion the Witch & The Wardrobe at The Windout Barn, Tedburn St Mary, Friday 1st Dec – Sunday 3rd December – Sit down for a cuppa and cake with Mr Tumnus; indulge in Turkish Delight and hot chocolate with the White Witch; tuck into pan fried fish and hot buttery potatoes with Mr and Mrs Beaver, and, of course, marmalade roll.
Wandering Tiger Present: ‘Humbug!’ – St Nicholas Priory, Fore Street, Thurs 14th – Sat 24th December – Inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story ‘A Christmas Carol’, Humbug! will transport you back in time to the world of Ebenezer Scrooge. Featuring live music, video projections and plenty of surprises, Humbug! is an immersive, multi-sensory Christmas experience in this atmospheric part of Exeter. Ages 8+. More details here.
Christmas Craft Fairs
Poltimore House Christmas Fair -Sunday, 19th November 10am – 3pm – around 30 stalls selling everything from silver, glass, wood, paper, wool to jewellery and toys. There will also be live music and of course plenty of tea and cake (The Arts Fairies can vouch for the cake).
Silverton Christmas Fair -Saturday, 25th November 19:30-22:30 a variety of stalls from local suppliers selling crafts, food and gifts, so you can pick up something truly unique. There will also be a food & drink hub (including the Travelling Pizzeria – we have heard about this pizza!), live music and choir singing. All proceeds will go to Silverton Preschool Playgroup.
Christmas Makers Market, Exmouth Oddfellows, Saturday 9th December 12-5pm – an array of stalls selling unique local handmade goods sold direct from the people who made them. Festive food, drink & music.
Artket Paper Phoenix, Exeter Phoenix, Saturday 2nd December 10.30-4pm –showcasing established independent designers, whilst nurturing and encouraging up-and-coming talent…discover unique illustrations, bespoke apparel, gifts, accessories, furniture, ceramics plus much more!
Christmas Concerts & Displays
Poltimore House Christmas Concert – Sunday, 8th December – annual concert with mulled wine & mince pies for all.
Christmas at Killerton House – from Saturday 25th November to Christmas – see sparkling displays in the mansion, based on the classic children’s book The Wind In The Willows (Booking required: free to National Trust members, non-members £12.10 adult £6.10 child).
